wïva ("we", "our", or "us") is operated by 17South Ltd, a UK-registered company. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our invoicing and point-of-sale application.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create a paid account with cloud features, we collect:

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Phone number
  • Business name
  • Business address
  • VAT number (optional)
  • Tax Identification Number (optional)

Free accounts with local-only storage do not require us to collect or store your personal data on our servers.

Invoice and Transaction Data

Depending on your subscription:

  • Local storage: Your invoices and receipts are stored only on your device. We do not have access to this data.
  • Cloud storage: If you enable cloud backup features, your invoice and transaction data is stored on our servers hosted in Switzerland. Hosting location may change, and we will update this policy accordingly.

Anonymised Market Data

We collect anonymised transaction data including product names, prices, quantities sold, and city-level location. This data has all business and customer identifying information removed. We use this data for market research and may share it with market research partners, industry analytics providers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and importers.

This collection is enabled by default but you can opt out at any time in the app settings.

Camera

We access your device camera solely for scanning barcodes and QR codes. Images are processed locally on your device to extract code values and are not stored or transmitted.

Analytics and Crash Reporting

We use Firebase Analytics to understand how users interact with the app and to improve our services. We also collect crash reports to identify and fix technical issues. This data may include device type, operating system version, app version, and usage patterns.

Advertising

We use Google AdMob to display advertisements. AdMob may collect and use data to provide personalised ads. You can adjust your ad preferences in your device settings.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the wïva service
  • Process your invoices and transactions
  • Submit fiscal data to ZIMRA as required by Zimbabwean tax regulations
  • Send you service announcements, marketing communications, and relevant notifications (for paid packages)
  • Improve our products and services
  • Generate anonymised market insights
  • Display advertisements
  • Diagnose and fix technical problems

Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services:

  • ZIMRA: For fiscal compliance, we submit required invoice and receipt data to the Zimbabwe Revenue Authority as mandated by law.
  • Google Sign-In: For authentication purposes.
  • Firebase: For analytics and push notifications.
  • Google AdMob: For advertising.

These third parties have their own privacy policies governing their use of your data.

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal or business information. We share data only in the following circumstances:

  • ZIMRA: As required by Zimbabwean fiscal regulations.
  • Anonymised market data: We share anonymised, aggregated transaction data with market research partners, industry analytics providers, manufacturers, wholesalers, and importers. This data cannot be used to identify you or your business.
  • Legal requirements: If required by law or to protect our rights.

International Data Transfers

Your data may be transferred to and processed in countries outside Zimbabwe, including Switzerland (where our servers are hosted) and the United Kingdom (where our company is registered). We take appropriate measures to ensure your data is protected in accordance with this policy.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you close your account or downgrade from a paid plan, we retain your data for 90 days before deletion, unless you request earlier deletion.

Anonymised market data is retained indefinitely unless you request its deletion.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your data.
  • Export: Export your data in CSV format via the app.
  • Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting support.
  • Opt out: Disable anonymised market data collection in app settings.
  • Withdraw consent: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time.

Data Security

We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Age Requirements

wïva is intended for users aged 12 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 12. If you believe a child under 12 has provided us with personal information, please contact us.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via the app or email. Continued use of wïva after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
